AIM Rope Access delivered a programme of masonry repairs to a historic overbridge spanning a disused railway in Greenock. The structure showed significant weathering, stone loss and deterioration across parapets, wingwalls and elevations, requiring conservation‑led intervention.
Our stonemasons dismantled and rebuilt defective parapet sections, reinstated displaced and spalled coping stones, and carried out targeted Lithomex repairs to areas of missing or damaged masonry. Loose and bulging stonework was stabilised, and stringer courses and voussoirs affected by spalling were restored.
Extensive repointing was completed across key elevations using traditional techniques and carefully matched mortar to ensure compatibility with the original construction. All works were undertaken with sensitivity to the bridge’s heritage character while improving the overall condition and stability of the structure.
